Noosa takes sustainability to Tasmania

Tourism Noosa’s Head of Environment and Sustainability, Juanita Terry-Bloomfield has been talking all things green from one end of Australia to the other! Juanita recently presented to Destination Southern Tasmania and other organisations about Noosa’s journey towards a sustainable tourism industry and how tourism organisations can successfully work with councils, members and other stakeholders on achieving sustainability in the industry.

Juanita is also attending the Global Eco Tourism Conference in Cairns this week.

RACV’s Green Team gets results

14 staff members of RACV Noosa Resort recently completed Tourism Noosa's online training program, Noosa Eco Check 2.0, with flying colours.

RACV Noosa Resort introduced a Green Team with staff members from various departments to implement environmentally friendly initiatives at the resort across Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Kitchen, Food and Beverage, Day Spa and Administration.

The resort has achieved great results from small initiatives such as removing single-use packaging to larger ideas such as replacing 5000 lights with LEDs and installing web-enabled airconditioning thermostats in apartments to reduce energy use.

Resort manager Darren McClenaghan said: "There are many people and businesses that want to behave more sustainably but just don’t know where to start. Noosa Eco Check is an awesome program to grow awareness and capability that enables us to grow our businesses in a sustainable way and save money at the same time."

Well done everyone at RACV Noosa Resort for your amazing efforts to protect and preserve our pristine Noosa Biosphere!

If you would like to book a private Noosa Eco Check training session for you and your staff, please contact Tourism Noosa’s Industry Development and Sustainability Executive Isa Grube at [email protected] or 07 5430 5009.
