Accommodation Sector email – 18/03/2020

We have received feedback from our key international source markets including the UK, Europe, North America and New Zealand that I wanted to share with you for those who are interested.

I have attached this feedback from Tourism Events Queensland International offices, as well as Sandra Leach – our UK in-market representation. New Zealand is still to come.

Although there is a lot of unrest and changes in market conditions, everyone is staying positive knowing that there will be a resurrection in travel, with these markets being resilient. Visiting Friends and Family (VFR) will be a very important market for Noosa immediately following this event.

Vynka, our International Marketing Manager, will be sending out a note in our next member e-newsletter asking for stories, imagery and news from our members that will help connect visitors to Noosa. This will assist in ensuring Noosa stays front of mind during the ‘escapism’ period and encouraging visitation once this has passed.

On another note, TN’s international updates are:

  1. ATE 2020 – Australian Tourism Exchange

Members that were attending ATE would have received the latest update that the event has been cancelled. Full reimbursements will be actioned at the end of March (application fees and back panels costs). Please cancel your accommodation and flights asap.

  1. Tourism Noosa 2020/2021

Tourism Noosa is devising a strategy to ensure we have a clear action plan to saturate our target markets once there is a sign travel is picking up. We will be working closely with VSC, TEQ and TA to leverage every possible angle.

Tourism Noosa will implement mentoring and programs to help grow and support our industry.

Please share any international assistance ideas you would find beneficial.

  1. Travel Trade will become more relevant than ever before

Travel Agents role in the distribution system will become more important as guests will be seeking confidence and more security. We are working with our industry to redevelop these plans.

  1. Tourism Australia and Tourism Events Queensland updates

Please visit the Tourism Noosa Toolkit link for regular updates from our industry bodies under Travel Industry Updates

The dedicated page on our website for members and businesses of Noosa contains up to date information, links, tips for the tourism industry, frequently asked questions and other information relating to COVID19.

We will send more information out next week with a general marketing update from TN.
