Lake Cootharaba and Park Road Boardwalk to be showcased in Floating Land - expressions of interest now open
Lake Cootharaba and the Park Road Boardwalk will be showcased in the Floating Land Arts Festival from 9-24 October 2021. 'At the edge of ideas' is the theme for the 11th iteration of Floating Land which curator and Noosa Regional Gallery director Michael Brennan said will inspire artists to step out of their comfort zones and consider how their experiences and truths compare with those of others.
Noosa’s award-winning Park Road Boardwalk, which attracts more than 1 million people each year, will feature installations that can be viewed from the boardwalk, while the Lake Cootharaba foreshore will provide the backdrop for multiple stand-alone installations. This continues the event’s two-decade history at Boreen Point. It will also be the site of the Floating Land Pavilion – a marquee housing a public program space featuring a collaborative, community-engaged art project on several of its surfaces.
The gallery is taking expressions of interest for artistic projects that respond to the 2021 theme until midnight on Tuesday 23 March. An information session will be held on Friday 5 March at 11.30am, at the Apollonian Hotel in Boreen Point where you can hear from Michael Brennan about this year’s themes.
